Greg Jarratt, Winemaker at Coldstream Hills

Portrait: Greg Jarratt

Greg was exposed to wine at an early age, enjoying a glass now and again at the dinner table.

He originally studied to be a Chemical Engineer, however, quickly realised that winemaking would be a much more interesting profession…

Greg’s first permanent job after finishing university in 1995 was with Coldstream Hills as a Cellar Hand. He has now made wine in the Hunter Valley - Australia, Bordeaux and the Languedoc - France, and Santa Barbara - USA. He is a Len Evans Tutorial scholar, and has assisted judging at a number of Australian capital city wine shows.

Why Coldstream Hills winery in the Yarra Valley? “Without a doubt it’s the Pinot. It has to be hand made, and it’s fun to make - temperamental and challenging.”
